Gold is what you keep once you stop wanting to choose in the morning. Most of our gold necklaces are made in stainless steel: the metal won't tarnish on skin and won't leave a green mark. Made to be worn every day.
There is the jewellery you take out twice a year, and the piece you put on in the morning without a second thought. A gold necklace belongs to the second kind. It warms the complexion where silver cools it, it goes with beige, off-white and the camel coat you live in four months of the year, and it asks for nothing except to be worn.
It is also the easiest to match with what you already have. If you wear a gold watch or a ring you never take off, a gold necklace is the simplest pairing, the one nobody notices because it is simply right.
When you look for gold necklaces for women, you are looking for two things at once: the colour, and something that lasts. Anyone can give you the colour. Lasting is another matter.
Most of our necklaces are made in stainless steel with a gold finish on the surface. This is not a detail for the small print, it is the heart of the choice: stainless steel won't tarnish on skin and won't leave the green mark of the common alloys used in costume jewellery.
Some of our pieces are 14ct gold-plated: the warm shade of yellow gold on a stainless steel base. The exact finish of every gold necklace is listed in its specifications, on its product page. We would rather write it in black and white than leave you guessing.
What that means day to day: you can own several, swap them with your outfit, give one without the price becoming the topic of the evening, and not hold your breath when the chain catches on a scarf. Fine gold jewellery lives in a safe. Ladies' gold necklaces like these get worn.
Length decides everything, far more than the motif. Three heights, and each one tells a different story.
The gold choker sits high, at the base of the neck, against the skin. It has a direct, confident look and needs an open neckline or an unbuttoned collar to breathe. It is what most people mean by a gold choker necklace.
The mid length falls just below the collarbone. It goes with the most outfits and it is the one to choose if you are unsure: it slips under a shirt collar as easily as it sits on a fine jumper. Most of our gold chain necklaces are this length, from the dainty gold necklace to the chunky gold necklace.
The long gold necklace drops over the chest. It lengthens the silhouette, opens up a shirt collar and gives a plain knit a vertical line. Wear it on its own, or doubled into two loops to sit higher, which gives you a layered gold necklace from a single piece.
Almost all our chains are adjustable: an extender chain lets you move from one length to another as you fasten it, with no mirror and no tools.
The gold heart necklace is the motif you'll find most often in our collection, and the easiest to give without getting it wrong: it says something without needing an explanation.
Our beach and ocean necklaces and shell necklaces bring summer into an office week. Starfish, cowrie shells, coloured enamel: in gold, the enamel warms up and the whole piece takes on a sunny note.
Some charm necklaces, the build-your-own sets, are put together by you, charm by charm. You choose what you want to show, and the result exists only once.
Then there are the faux pearl and beaded necklaces, where gold pushes the white of the faux pearl towards cream and softens the whole look.
Choose the one you already wear, not the one that shines most. Silver blends into greys, blues and black; gold warms beige, off-white and warm colours. If you are still unsure, look at your watch: it is the simplest and surest guide. Our silver necklaces come in the same motifs, several pieces exist in both colours, and you choose once, on the product page.
Take it off before the shower, the pool and the gym. Put on your perfume before your necklace, never after: alcohol attacks the finish. Store it somewhere dry in its box, away from your other jewellery so nothing rubs. A soft, dry cloth is all it needs to get its shine back.
Every necklace is sent in its gift box, ready to give just as it is, with no price inside.
